You really have to use your imagination, as this ROW is just about gone:

Last freight ran in 1984. The line was completely de-activated in 1989.

For a trip even further back, the Evergreen Branch went all the way to the East River through East Williamsburg and Greenpoint into the mid 1880's. The right of way is fairly visible through odd building lines and wide backyards all the way through into the Queens line.

Maybe a virtual ride is warranted?

Start with the 1880's era maps via Arrt Huenke's LIRR website, then follow the Row via the 1924 aerial photos and the ones today. One may be in luck, as they tore down Marino Tile and Marble's building on Graham Ave. recently which was built over the right of way and you can see clear up to Humboldt St.

I'm not aware of any sign of the former ROW between the junction with the Bushwick brance (SSRR) and the Greenpoint waterfront once existed.

I was never a White Castle fan. There's one in my old neighborhood, on the north side of East New York Av. between Schenectady and Utica Avs. It has since been rebuilt, exchanging spaces with its former parking lot. To me, the place always stank of what was probably stale ketchup.

It was narrow gauge when it first opened in 1878, along with the rest of the NY & Manhattan Beach Railway (which included the Manhattan Beach and Bay Ridge lines). It was made Standard gauge in 1881 after the LIRR and NY&MBRy came under the same ownership (Austin Corbin)and they wanted to make connections to the Atlantic Ave. and LIC branches.

oh signs still exists! If you know where it once was, its not hard to follow. I looked through the construction fence where Marino Tile and Marble was on Graham tonight, the RR right of way goes clear to Humboldt St. I do remember looking at at house on Richardson St. where the right of way was used as a community garden bocci court even today. All the housing is pre-1880 in that area, except the post 1894 "newer" ones built over the right of way facing the streets.
I don't rightly know where the line exactly went west of VanderVoort though, it never was really built up except for factories.
