Hi,I am wondering if they are going to use the double-X-cross-over switch between the Eastern Parkway station and the Franklin Avenue station, for the terminate and relay operation. They could always discharge passengers at Franklin Avenue and run light to Utica Avenue, and then return to Franklin Avenue to pick up passengers. Just wondering. Mike |

If the 2's are terminating at Franklin to go back to 241 Street, chances are they are using the double crossover at the Brooklyn Museum. As for discharging at Franklin and running lite to Utica, there would be no need to run a shuttle bus if the service was available. You might as well carry passengers... But as an FYI, there's switchwork at the junction of the Flatbush and New Lots lines, Manhattan Bound. I do wonder why they aren't running a shuttle train from Utica to New Lots. Would save on the buses... -Stef |

Makes me wonder if the work being done is at Rogers Junction or nearby.I know in the 70s, they did have a Utica-Newlots shuttle train during mid-day GOs. I rode one once, I think it was an early dismissal day from school, and rather than going home to an empty house until my mother got home from work, I took the 2 to my grandmother's house, who lived near the Newlots station. Boarded at Nostrand, rode to Utica, where we were fumigated and directed downstairs to the northbound platform, where the shuttle train arrived (I guess the other 2 relayed and went back north). Boarded the shuttle and we wrong-railed it until past Junius St. Of course, I was at the railfan window :) Back then, the 4 and 5 always terminated at Atlantic mid-days, so plenty of room for the 2 to relay. Who knows why they won't do it now. |

That's right, the work is being done at Rogers Junction, switch replacement between the Manhhattan Bound Local and Express Track outside of the Nostrand Av. Perhaps there might be other work (in addition to this) going on along the New Lots Corridor that I'm not aware of?-Stef |
