I actually saw some JA ONE acid tags as recently as last year on stainless steel surfaces of Midtown phone stands. (Madison & 42) I remember seeing his tag on the back surface of highway signs Belt & Van Wyck. HE also had an acid field day on the train windows a few years ago. |

I was not aware that NYC provided free graffiti removal services.Shoveling snow or sweeping up probably does not cost as much as graffiti removal would. While I agree it should be removed, I don't agree that the owner of the graffiti'ed object should be penalized if he can't afford to have it removed. --Mark |

THere are several on 40th between 6th & Madison.I do remember VAMP. This JA ONE SOB will probably be tagging from a wheelchair someday. ANother SOB that drove me crazy was ROZ aka Michael Neary. He was the KING of scratching the windows. I never forgeot one day I was riding a brand new R-68 on the N in 1986 and I noticed ROZ on the glass I was like WTF and then I realized uh ohh a new form of destruction is about to take off. Talk about the tip of the iceberg. He became so big that A few years ago I went to a red hook art exhibit and saw a mirrow with his ROZ on it as an exhibit! I got so crazy over it. He is lucky I never caught him. I remember the spotless GOH slants on the B and I was see his tag on the glass. |

Like I said I only reached that conclusion because I cannot think of another one that would really clean up the entire city. The way the NYC graffiti-free program works is you sign up for it through 311 and they clean your property for free. You sopecify if you want it chemically removed or painted. I am not sure if it applies to second floors or roof tops. There also was a rule changed a few years ago. it basically gives NYC the right to remove graffiti from yoru building without your consent unless you fill out an opt out form. Then they should not touch it. |

One day I was working the 7 train at Corona Yard and the Vandal Squad was there. Got into conversation with cops and told them what I knew. Cop was excited and knew the tag VAMP well. Few weeks later it was a big story in local newspapers and at least one net affiliate when he got caught and confessed. |
