On the 2/5 between Franklin and Flatbush.
On the 2/3 north of 125 which includes up to Lenox, Bronx up to Dyre and 241.
On the 4 north of 161.
3 between Sutter Ave/Rutland and New Lots.
7 east of 74.
A north of 168
B/D north of 161.
E/J/Z past Sutphin (Jamaica Center).
F past Briarwood Van Wyck up to 179.
L past Union Square to Myrtle/Wycoff, and from Broadway Junction to Canarsie.
A/C/H past Howard Beach which includes both Rockaway Park and Far Rockaway Segments.
Also A between Rockaway Blvd and Lefferts!

I have intentions to go up to 241 and Dyre soon, and with the R188 popping up to possibly do a run on the entire Flushing Line! I wanna explore some if the other parts I've never ridden on!

I left New York in December of 1978. I never rode the 63rd street tunnel, or the new extensions of the J line and E and F trains to Archer Avenue. I have never seen the New Lots yards in it's entirety. Only saw it from a distance in 1962. I'm not too familiar with the Pitkin or 36th street yards. I'm familiar with all the rest.

I've ridden the entire subway system as it currently exists but I can't remember off the top of my head when I rode between Franklin and Flatbush.

Locally (as in, New York-centric commuter systems), I still have to ride:

-Bridgeport to Waterbury
-Mount Kisco-ish to Wassaic
-Perth Amboy to Bay Head
-Suffern to Port Jervis
-South Orange to Gladstone and Dover
-Newark Broad to Hackettstown (via Montclair)
-Bayside to Port Washington
-East Williston to Oyster Bay
-Huntington to Port Jefferson
-Bethpage to Greenport
-Floral Park to Hempstead
-Valley Stream to West Hempstead
-Lynbrook to Long Beach
-Bridgehampton to Montauk

As for the other express tracks: west end via N, sea beach many years ago on the W being rerouted there for some reason i stead of staying on the west end and using that express track to get to ci (i think the train was falling behind and had to close the gap, happened like august 2001).

SIR gets a little interesting south of Eltingville as everything is more spread out and Tottenville Station ends steps from the water.

You're not missing much in Bay Ridge, at least not right now.

Woodlawn is also worth seeing as the northern end suggests being outside NYC (which you practically are).

Go for the 7 express out to Main St, especially now while you have the railfan window option. The upper tracks above 111 St station offer great views.

And you should try to make at least one trip to see the "Flats" (that long stretch from Howard Beach to Broad Channel) and the Rockaways once they are back up and running.

Just realized I never answered the original question.

I've covered the entire NYC subway and SIR.

On LIRR I'm missing:
-Both stops in Long Island City, including the diesel track from there to Jamaica
-St Albans
-Montauk line past Mastic-Shirley
-Entire Far Rockaway line past Valley Stream
-Entire Long Beach and West Hempstead lines
-Central Connection from Bethpage to Babylon
-Port Jefferson Station (been as far as Stony Brook)
-Everything past Ronkonkoma to Greenport
-Oyster Bay line north of Roslyn

On Metro North I'm even worse. I'm missing:
-Entire Hudson Line and everything west of Hudson
-Harlem line north of White Plains
-New Haven line east of Darien and all side branches

I'm sure I'll get to most if not all of these within a few years, but lately I've been working on something much trickier: trying to get on every bus route in NYC.

- On the 2/5 between Franklin Ave and the Brooklyn College terminal.
- On the A/S to Rockaway Park
- On the L between Myrtle/Wyckoff and East NY/Broadway Junction
- On the 3 between 135th and 148th.
- SIR between Huguenot & Tottenville.

Just looked at the map. I can say with confidence I've been everywhere else.

You missed the s curve on the L at atlantic av. That was really neat how big that station used to be before they consolidated everything to a single platform.

On a related note, also been on the J via the former manhattan nb manahattan platforms of canal and bowery before they consolidated to the southbound side platforms.

Oh wait- I need to clarify when I said I was talking about only parts in existence today. I meant I was only listing places that exist today where I haven't been.

While I did in fact, unfortunately miss the L train snaking over Snediker Ave.,I have seen and used the now closed platforms at Canal St & Bowery.

Also, I don't think I've been on the A between Rockaway Blvd & Lefferts. In 1999, I did a tremendous amount of railfanning, and I continued to do until 2003 or so. Then, my job takes me to a lot of different places, so except as noted, I've seen most of the currently existing system, as well Bowery & Canal before the platforms were closed off.

Among the parts that disappeared in my lifetime (born 1968), I missed almost all of them- the Myrtle & (Bronx) Third Avenue Els, the Culver Shuttle, the last 5 stations on Jamaica Avenue, and even Dean Street on the Franklin. I don't remember ever riding the South Ferry shuttle, but it's possible that I did, as we went there when I was a kid.
