I wonder if this derailment was in any way caused by the bridge replacement and/or catenary work that is going on at that exact location?? There has been a lot of work equipment, materials, and activity going on there with the bridge replacement. |

I wonder if the work going on at that location caused this derailment, as there is a lot of construction activity with the ongoing bridge replacements in that exact area. |

On the Saturday 11pm news, WCBS Channel 2 had an update on the incident and showed an illustration of the two trains and their routes from their departures points to where the crash occurred. However, their map showed GCT where NYP is and the eastbound MNRR taking the route an Amtrak train would have taken (through Queens etc). |
