GO announcements |
Posted by merrick1 on Sat May 18 22:01:08 2013 Today the Queens-bound F was running via the 53rd Street Tunnel. The conductor made an announcement at 47th-50th Street that passengers for 57th Street, Lexington Avenue/63rd Street or Roosevelt Island should stay on the F train to Roosevelt Avenue and take a Manhattan bound F train to the bypassed stations. They always make this announcement for this GO so I think it is an official announcementWouldn't the best option for 57th Street be to go up to the street and walk to 57th Street? For Lexington Avenue/63rd Street walk from Lexington Avenue/53rd Street or take the 6 train to either 59th Street or 68th Street. |

Doubling back from Rockefeller Center takes almost a half hour. But for the people who have great difficulty walking 10 blocks, other alternatives (i.e. buses, other trains) should be given. For 57th Street, get off at Rockefeller Center and use the M5 or M7 bus. For Lexington/63rd, transfer to the 6 at Lexington/53rd, then walk, or use the M101/102/103 at 3rd Avenue. For Roosevelt Island, transfer to the Q102 bus at Queens Plaza (Queens Plaza North & 29th Street). For 21 St/Queensbridge, transfer at Queens Plaza for the Q66 or Q69 buses. |

The bypassed stations are not transfer stations. There would be no reason to reenter the system when you got to the bypassed station. |
