Besides Conductors and Train Operators, who else do train fumigation? Can train cleaners do fumigation for short periods of time?

There is no program to fumigate trains per se'. When trains are dirty they can be disinfected but there is nothing in "Stock" to fumigate a train. There were times when a car might have been infested with fleas where we would go out and purchase one of those home aerosol bug bombs. We'd kill the battery, set it off and lock the car doors for a couple of hours BUT that was done rarely and unofficially.

Well, since no one else is taking this question seriously... I think if a team of rats were sent onto a train, the remaining passengers would flee very quickly.

You don't fumigate for rats. You exterminate,

if by 'fumigate', you mean get customers to leave the train for whatever purpose, retired employees and/or railfans can assist if they so desire...

POLICE

On a few occasions I have seen transit police who are riding a short OPTO train on their patrols fumigate the train at the terminal as a courtesy to the operator.

Based on the way this thread has gone, I think your question would be better asked: "Who is responsible to make sure nobody is left on the train?"

I think in the end it is a train operator and conductor either leaving the train there or pulling the train into non-revenue territory, but others would know for sure.

Isn't the T/O responsible for clearing the front half the train (walks outside train to car before C/R position then walks back up to the T/O cab through the train) and the C/R responsible for clearing the back half the train (walks outside train to last car then back up to C/R position through the train)?

Usually I see this occur with the doors opened, but occasionally I have observed something different that I've only seen on 75 ft cars. The C/R leaves the train, then sticks his/her arm through the open window into his cab to close the train doors. He or she walks to the rear of the train and back outside the train, keying open the doors to let out any passengers still on the train. Then he or she keys open the door of the car at the C/R position to get back onto the train.

Are both of these methods standard procedure?
