Overnight LIRR service to Brooklyn is back. I think that's more connected to Barclay's Center than anything else.

Only the (G) for subway, so no (V) or (W). Good. They were useless. The (M) the way is the best thing they did. The train is packed during Rush hours in MET from Mid Town. These people need a one seat ride. The rest of the day also gets good rider ship.

Some South Bklyn - Nassau St service will have to wait for the next car order.

Had they cherry-picked 100 R44's for more service, that would have been a different story, like 50 for restored service and 50 to junk the R42's.

Agreed. It's too bad they can't save 100 R44s (is it really too late?). But once the R32s are SMS'ed, won't the C need fewer spares? Can't 50 R32s be spared for a South Brooklyn service?

V was useless. W wasn't. Two years ago, I thought it was and was an easy choice for cutting. Until I rode the Broadway Line after the W was cut. The Broadway Line ran better when the W was there. With switching from express to local being done in two places (Prince and 34th) and the more-frequent Q switching at 34th, the line just moves slower and has more delays.

I say leave the M as it is now, but bring back the W and south brooklyn-Nassau service, at least in rush hour (both services can be rush only)

Aren't labor costs factored into every subway route extension? They must have been when the board voted to make the G to Church permanent.

Couldn't MTA take the cars used by the N and Q that terminate at 57 St - 7 Av (during rush hours) for W service? I agree W train needs to come back only during rush hours as a Broadway - 4 Av or Sea Beach Lcl line.

The "G" is an OPTO service, so a cheap extension, and they have to deadhead by there to get to CIY anyway.

The G extension to Church Ave. has not been made permanent yet.........it has to be presented to the MTA board for approval. NYCT is RECOMMENDING they do so and it will get a "rubber stamp" because the MTA board is a bunch of puppets.

Currently there is a funding formula that pays for the current extension to Church Ave. out of the Capital Budget, at the effective date it officially becomes permanent, it will come out of the Operating Budget.

If they terminate at 57th, they head right back to Brooklyn.
The W required a net 5 additional train sets, and basically a useless service for Astoria being replaced by the Q.

The N/Q trains that terminate at 57th during the week, lay up @ City Hall lower level and the N/B express track between 49th and 57th until there needed for the PM Rush.

If that were the case.why couldnt the Q be the Bway local..since it IS the shortest line of all the Broadway services?

The reason they terminate is that the 60th Street tunnel is maxed out with all R and most N, most Q. I don't see where this is going. Kill the Q out to Astoria in rush hours and make them W's ? What's the point ?

Well, that seems to have been some pretty bad decision making. If a few more R32 or even R42s had been kept, maybe this could have been done...

There will be no W until the Q needs to be re-directed up 2nd Ave, if then. I have always been skeptical of the need to run midday Astoria service at 12 TPH.

A useless service maybe on paper. Not in practice. And without it, northbound Broadway Line trains suffer from delays in two places instead of just one.
