Yeah but they did it the sissy way. The 3rd rail was not on the long side of the jump.

It's 9th ave middle, probably the second safest place to try this (Bedford-Nostrand G would be better but probably more likely to get caught)... of course "there can be a train on any track at any time" but at least it wasn't a track used in regular service...

If they missed and bounced off the platform edge, they might have landed across the track and come into contact with the third rail.

Better to try it on an IRT line with 8'6" to jump. Anyway these guys is bad and the video should be pulled, I agree.

The center track gets a lot of non-revenue use in both directions. These two are Darwin candidates. Better luck next time.

Could they be charged with trespassing when they entered the trackway above the tracks?

I believe so - especially if the actions were witnessed by police. It's clear that they intended to trespass, albeit briefly.

Absolutely. If the MTA has "air rights" of the area above the trackway to the ceiling of the station, then leaping over the trackway can be considered trespassing.

There is also the matter that they passed through an area through which they weren't allowed to pass, which also counts as trespassing. Like entering the employees only area of a store.
