Correct. As a result, the railroad ceased operations and liquidated all their assets.

I'm only limited to Google Earth, which really has a hard time showing anything identifiable as a former railroad ROW. Compare that to the Erie Orange branch, which is easily seen on Google Maps despite most of it being abandoned for nearly half a century.

How come they missed the old 159th Street el yard, north of the Polo Grounds? Looks like they were only interested in the tracks there.

Was the money that the City used to buy the Bronx section of the NYW&B originally to be used for something else?

Hell, you can trace a good part of the old O&W ROW in Orange County, and that's been dead almost SIXTY years! Considering the development in OC over the last 30 years or so, it ain't too bad. If you start at where it branched off the NYC WSRR at Cornwall, it really is not too hard to do.

After 9 PM, for many years, fares were collected on the train by a conductor with a bus type fare box.

I believe overnight 5 shuttle still had on board fare collection right up until MetroCard... I don't know how they did it with the 5 car R62s...
