Of course it's "temporary".. just for this summit...They should hold these things in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, not mess up people's Monday commute. And from the tone of the article, it seems Metra commuters had best learn to goose step, and the proper angle of raising their arms to the flag: . |

Why don't they just have these conferences on a military base or somewhere like the Greenbrier where regular people won't have to deal with the bullshit. |

Or do what was done a few years ago when the G8 (or maybe it's long enough ago that it was still G7) summit was held in Italy: Charter a crusise ship and hold the conference offshore. Of course, a NATO summit may have more attendees than a G8.The thing that astonishes me about this little exercise in security theatre is that it's not limited to the Metra Electric and NICTD lines, which, at least, do run directly under McCormick Place, and might conceivably be used for bomb delivery. No, TSA has imposed, and Metra has acceded to, restrictions on all the commuter rail lines, none of the rest of which come anywhere near the security perimiter. Alan Follett Hercules, CA |

A major reason for driving is knowing you can arrive at the destination sometime close to plan with very little reliance on cooperation from others. |

The problem is the greedy local hotel/hospitality industry who thinks THEY will coin money on the deal. In the instant case, the net effect for Chicago is likely to be nothing or negative given the exclusion zone. |

I like any good capitalist, I am weighing costs and receipts. If the cost exceed the receipts the venture3 is an economic loss. It is not a matter of left and right to do the math. The conclusions drawn may be political, but the ## are not. |

NICTD also, yet CTA and PACE seem to be exempt. So some poor shmuck who comes into town on Amtrak, and needs to get to Arlington Hts, La Grange, or Blue Island and has 2 pieces of luggage is shit out of luck, or will have to pay big for a taxi. |
