MTA is Brainless |
|
Posted by MATHA531 on Sun May 13 17:02:28 2012 Mother's Day, of course, is one of the big travel days in the year as so many take their moms out to eat. It is a day that public transport should operaste at almost 100%.So why would the fools at the MTA pick Mother's Day weekend to close off the whole Nostrand ?Avenue line, to close off train service from Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn? Makes absolutely no sense. Certainly nothing is of such importance that it couldn't wait a week. And none of this the work has to be done some time. Certain days of the year lead to more travel than others. Mother's Day is clearly one of them. |

Jeff...I saw a few people holding bouquets of flowers on their way to meet mom in many cases for a nice restaurant in the city. I would say, although I haven't done a scientifric study, public transport is somewhat more heavily used on Mom's Day...whether the increase is tremendous, who knows. I still think it's a day worthy of skipping the sort of work orders that close off whole lines and disrupt pretty much the whole IRT but you're welcome to disagree. |

If there was a large parade, though, they would reduce work for it.Joralemon closures end May 28. (late night continues until 6/8) |

Uptown Deuces were also SRO with many standees through the Bee-Ex on Saturday.(On another note, the (5) was operating only to 42 - and on a 20 minute headway; this likely contributed more to (2) line crowding.) visit my blog! |
