DF3 would be more appropriate and while we're at it the mini-expert is talking out of his ass again. Transit never used a 3YC compressor. The DF3 was replaced by the 2CY compressor until the D-3 and D-4 came along. |

It's almost as if they wanted it to look good for some reason (paint wise). OK yellow and black stripes aren't the nicest lookin things..............but you ALWAYS know when ones comin. The R156 is gonna blend in too much. |

These locomotives are lit up like they're going to be used as tourist attractions in Times Square and everyone's griping that the paint job doesn't stand out enough. If the paint job is what you're counting on seeing, you're probably in trouble. |

The transition unit car was required for power packs (two engined CWRs, project trains) or one rider car between engines for any moves over structures as as this rule was written in place to protect the structure from overloading . At 38Yd multiple engine moves were permitted to make up roadmaster work trains but prohibited at Westchester. |

It's always towed to the facility where it undergoes much testing before it runs under its own power. |

NOOOOOOOOO!Nobody has been trained on it yet, or read the owner's manual. Gotta check the fluids, charge the bat trees, and remove the plastic wraps that cover the equipment. Removing the plastic wraps is a specialty that must be done by a member of the black plastic wrap union, otherwise the whole system would have to go out on strike in symphony. Then the High Priestess of Coney Island Yard must come and make blessings over it, and to wash away any cooties that non-union workers in the manufacturing plant may have left on it. And besides all of that.... THIS IS THE WAY WE HAVE ALWAYS DONE IT! ROAR |

Also who knows EXACTLY how to run it according to NYCT book of rules yet? Testing allows for New car engineering's bed bugs from running into walls like the CBTC switches it came with. BTW a car inspector who rides with me showed me pictures that its a couple of feet longer than a rider car, not exactly good for the loops. |

Posted by South Brooklyn Railway on Thu May 10 08:19:38 2012, in response to Re: R156 Locomotives, posted by Mike Cruz on Sat May 5 13:38:45 2012. Original plans were to have Cross Harbor (Now NY&NJ Rail) push the Diesel into the new yard on 39th and 2nd, and have N1&N2 tow it back through 3rd ave into 36th street cut, but since the new road bed has been torn apart because of pipe work, they sent it through the Bay Ridge branch. What makes no sense to me, is they took apart the new roadbed on 1st ave and 39th for reconstruction and NOT put it back together. What a waste... |
