Cars with trap doors and stairs are outdated, the MTA going to all high platforms is forward thinking because the trains dont need the vestibules or worry about trap doors breaking. Simplified designs. |

Platform extenders for when a track is OOS for any reason is also a tremendous waste of dough and time (since they have to be brought to the station and set up); way better if you can walk across the track to get on the train, as evidenced in that shot in the OP. There's a reason why SEPTA's new EMUs have long doors. |

At MNCR we keep the bridgeplates at the station, only if the big multiple bridgeplates are used for long term outages are they brought to each station in advance by truck.As for SEPTA lets just say, them and NJT and LIRR are not number one ;-) |
