I mean the amount of free time they devote to passengersin their ports of call, where the subway exists. For example - Russian-speaking tour operators are not aware of such phenomenon as railfans. They never encounter time for learning local transit systems. Visiting Boston with them, I used a free time, devoted to restaurants at Quincy Market - in order to self-explore Green and Red lines. Visiting Montreal - I took just one look on their Metro, during an "underground city tour" ... what else... During 6-day Chicago tour I had an opportunity to ride METRA and walk "the loop" on my own (I didn't ride CTA-train yet) only since I took a "day off" and a motel had a free train shuttle. There is no Russian tour agency to organize a tour of model and actual tourist railways in Pennsylvania. Yet there are some tours with visiting some old railway in Connecticut. That's what I mean by the notion of Railway-Friendliness. HEre its mininal |

American basied cruise company's don't drag you from place to place unless you sign up for something. when the ships pull into port, you can do basicly what you want. |

Gotta see how long Carnival says they've got in San Juan. TU though is nowhere nearby. They gotta catch the Metrobus Expreso from Covandonga bus terminal (which is actually the location of the old American RR of PR terminal) to Sagrado Corazon. Or they can catch the ferry from right next to the cruise ship to Catano, and then catch the bus to Bayamon. |
