New voice onboard Atlanta Airport Plane Train |
|
Posted by Pink Jazz on Sun Apr 29 18:07:15 2012 Last month, a new voice was introduced on The Plane Train at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This is in preparation for the opening of the new Concourse F and International terminal. The voice is by Sharon Feingold, the same lady who recorded the voice onboard the ATL SkyTrain. Also, they finally brought back sound effects. Here is a video featuring the new voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95DW1JOmWXA So, here is the history of the voices onboard The Plane Train: - Original computerized voice - 1996 recorded male voice with sound effects - 2002 recorded male voice by Bill Murray (not the actor/comedian) - 2006 recorded female voice with NATO Phonetic Alphabet by Susan C. Bennett - 2012 recorded female voice with NATO Phonetic Alphabet and sound effects by Sharon Feingold Also, in 2005 there were two short-lived experimental voices: one female voice, and one male voice that identified the concourses with different names (rather than the NATO Phonetic Alphabet). |

That was the original computerized voice. It was done away with since the airport felt it would have been too difficult for foreign travelers to understand. |
