If an extention is in the future plans, that would have to be a engineering nightmare to overcome, not to mention expense IMO |

I think because of it being too close to the water that part would have to be elevated. When I brought up my (L) expansion ideas, I have the (L) going diagonally until it reached 10th Avenue, with the first stop at 23rd Street.Perhaps that part could be done with the (7) also going there. |

Google Maps view showing the access shaft at 11th Ave & 26th :http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=40.750554,-74.00547&spn=0.000534,0.000862&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=36.589577,56.513672&t=h&z=20 The two subway tunnels were started here and the TBM machines dug their way north to 41st St, then east to connect with the existing 7 line tunnels under the PABT at 8th Ave & 41st Each tunnel was built using their own TBM machine, and both tunnels were dug simultaneously. Tunnel 1 was completed in June 2010, Tunnel 2 completed in August 2010. The TBM machines were partially dismantled and reversed through the completed tunnels back to the 26th St access shaft where they were dismantled and removed. The TBM machines would have been refurbished by their owner, and are thought to be at work on other tunneling jobs. Since these tunnels are already as far south at 26th St, it shouldn't be too hard to start a "7 Extension Phase II" to dig south to 23rd St and then East to 1st Ave. Anyone got a few $Billion$ to spare? |

South to 23rd St., yes. Build a terminal station at Chelsea Piers. East on 23rd St. to 1st Ave.? I think not. Maybe the L can be extended west, then turn north under the West Side Highway to end with the bumping block around 18th St. A transfer passage could connect the north end of the L with the south end of the 7. The whole thing would need to be in bored tunnels so as not to disturb the highway on the surface. |

If that's what they wanted, they could have extended the 14th Street line over the High Line years ago at a fraction of the cost. They could have redeveloped the area so that the High Line disappeared within the buildings like Moses proposed for the mid-Manhattan Expressway. |

Those people between Bedford & 1st are the same ones who get off and walk to 9th av, the (L) wouldnt really increase. If more trains is needed I guarantee CBTC can allow 2 min headways, just need platform conductors at busy stations to regulate the crowd so trains can move in and out of stations quickly. |
