Best Solution to get to JFK?

I live right near Van Cordlant Park 242 #1 Subway. I plan go to JFK for international flight. Shall I do this way?

1) Take #1 subway to Marble Hill and get on Bx9 to Bedford Park to transfer to subway #4 to 59st then use passageway to Lexington Ave/63rd then take F subway to Kew Gardens station then get Q10 bus to JFK.

OR

2) I can use #1 subway to Marble Hill then get MNRR from there to GCT then take #4/5/6 subway to 50th st then use passgeway to E train then to Kew Gardens then Q10 bus to JFK

OR

3) I use #1 subway to 168th st then change to A subway then express to 34st Penn Station then I use LIRR to Jamaica Station then use Airtran to JFK.

OR

any suggestions? I want cheaper and faster, if you know. Thanks!

1 to 168th->A to 42nd->E to Jamaica Center->AirTrain to JFK.

Or use the LIRR from 34th to Jamaica if you want faster but more expensive.

Do yourself a solid and take the 1 to 50th or transfer to the A at 168th to 50th then walk over to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal and take the boat. You'll feel better about yourself I promise.

I meant take the boat to your International destination. Common sense demands that course of action.

A simple, though perhaps not the fastest way, is to take the 1 to 59 St/Columbus Circle, then take the B or D to 7 Ave for the E to Jamaica and the AirTrain. That's probably the way I would do it. You could also change to the A at 168 St as you suggested and take that to Columbus Circle.

If you can, avoid the Q10 during the day if you have luggage. Here's what I would do:
1 to 59th, B/D to 7th Avenue, E to Sutphin, then the Airtrain.

Late at night (with a properly timed connection) you might even get away with doing the Bx9 to West Farms then the Q44 to Jamaica for the Airtrain (well, when there are no GO's on Airtrain anyway. Lately there's been one almost every night: Bustitution from Howard Beach and Federal Circle to the airline terminals.)

Please note the error in this suggestion:
1 to 168th->A to 42nd->E to Jamaica Center->AirTrain to JFK.
----
Take the E to Sutphin/Archer, not to Jamaica Center, for AirTrain.
----
(By the way, using the bus across The Bronx and then the Q44 to Jamaica is very slow. The trick is to do the trip mostly by rail and with few transfers.)

"1) Take #1 subway to Marble Hill and get on Bx9 to Bedford Park to transfer to subway #4 to 59st then use passageway to Lexington Ave/63rd then take F"

There is no passageway between 59th St/Lex and 63rd St/Lex. It is an out of system "walking" transfer.

I personally would go with the #1 to 59th St, then downstairs for the downtown B or D to 7th Av, then downstairs for the Queens bound E to Suthphin Blvd/JFK, then the AirTrain to JFK.

Make sure you have at least $7.25 on your MetroCard ($2.25 for the subway and $5.00 for the AirTrain).

What time of day are you traveling? With good connections and at certain times, the Q10 can be not much slower than the AirTrain, considering you save the few extra minutes on the E.

Keep in mind, however, that the AirTrain is the most baggage-friendly way of going, so if you have a lot of luggage, you probably won't mind spending the $5. Looking at it on paper now makes it seem like a rip-off because you have alternatives, but when you're on it with all of your stuff and you find yourself already inside the terminal when you get off, it feels pretty good.

If I'm traveling internationally and have ANY bags that I'm checking in, I automatically go with AirTrain.

But like I said, the Q10 is a decent alternate, not too much slower depending on time of day, but will only take you to Terminal 4.

According to Google maps, slogging through brooklyn on the A is only 8 minutes slower. If you have a lot of luggage, it might be easiest to switch to the A at Washington heights and ride it to Howard Beach.

Take the #3 to New Lotts and transfer to the B-15. One across platform transfer, One fare , one bus PRICELESS

Is it possible to switch from the Q10 to the (free access) AirTrain at the Lefferts Blvd. AirTrain stop? Or do they make that difficult by not having the bus stop there? I guess from terminal 4 you can take the free AirTrain to any of the other terminals.

AFAIK you can transfer at Lefferts - there's a Q10 stop there AFAIK, at least going northbound toward Kew Gardens, but it doesn't really matter as Terminal 4 is an option that has more AirTrain service anyway.

If the 8 minute figure is right, then the best strategy would probably be:

#1 to 168 St., change for the A.

If the A is going to Far Rockaway, stay on it to JFK/Howard Beach station, and get the AirTrain train there.

If the A is going to Lefferts Blvd., get off at 42 St. and transfer to the Queens-bound E to Sutphin Blvd., get the AirTrain there.

Because if you have to wait for another train, the E will be a faster ride than the A. But if you are already on a train, the difference would be short enough that it wouldn't pay to get off and wait for another.

Since I live relatively near you I find that if I have full size luggage it is easier and more cost efficient if I take a gypsy cab down to the Twin Donut at 218 and B'way and have the Super Shuttle pick me up there. The gypsy cab will be about $7 and the super shuttle is $23 plus tip. Since you are at the northern part of Manhattan you are most likely the first pick up. I have used them several times like this and have had no problems.
The address for the Twin Donut is 5099 Broadway.
