I don't know about the one at Church Ave on the (G) but the other was a person who had his head split open by an approaching train. It was classified as a 12-9 though technically it was not. |

Posted by Train Dude on Mon Apr 2 23:39:56 2012, in response to Re: 4, posted by jasonnyc on Mon Apr 2 23:24:10 2012. 12-9 is technically when a person is under a train, hence the term, "Man Under". It has at times been used to categorize other serious injuries such as a passenger being trapped between the train and the platform - referred to as a "Space Case". |

Hope you didn't just jinx yourself!!!At the very beginning of my last pick (Oct. 16th 2011), the very first night on the conductor run I picked, my train clipped a trespasser with a bicycle who crossed in front of our train just south of the Wilton (CT; Danbury Branch) siding south switch, first time EVER one of my trains made any kind of contact with a trespasser!! Good things are: 1). Only the bicycle got clipped!! (Plow of a Gennie, fireman side) 2). Only the quick release rear rim (bashed all to hell) was all that was found. No body, no blood (surprisingly no shit and piss trails either!!) Was very unnerving though!! |

Sucks to be either and engineer or a motorman lately, be it NYCT, Metro-North, NJT, LIRR, Amtrak, or anywhere!! Lots of stuff going on the last few months with trespassers and suicides, even roadway workers (MOW) getting struck!!!!I think I will stay as a Conductor!!! |
