Pertaining to the Metro-North deal; the locals to Croton-Harmon use M7s while the semi-expresses use diesels from what I've seen.As for the (1) line event, dunno. Mayhap some incident further down the line required a "rescue" train to be sent in? my blog |

Why would a train perform such a move?It could have been heading to 207th St. yard, couldn't it? |

I took the Metro-North from 125th Street to Marble Hill. I took train #8753, the 7:08 PM train from 125th which made express stops and ended at Croton-Harmon. I was surprised to discover that the train was a diesel. Aren't GCT to CH trains primarily electric? Is that normal for a diesel to do a run entirely in electric territory under normal conditions? As was said elsewhere, they do usually run these as Diesel. One benefit is they can use the express track that has no third rail. |

The semi-expresses I've ridden (weekday and weekend) have all been electric. Maybe the train needed to get back up to Harmon and they just used it as a revenue train. |

Several semi expresses run to Harmon with Genesis/shoreliner equipment, reason we got to get them to Harmon for fuel and or engine swaps. |

Not all the tracks between CH and the Metro North/Amtrak split have 3rd rail?Mind = blown. I wish the LIRR had similar runs with their dual mode fleet. :( |

Apparently, it's just track 1, one of the two inner tracks, identified as follows:To Albany |||| ↓||||↑ |||| 4213 To NYC Track 1 has no power rail between MP32 (south of Croton River Bridge) and MP26.7 (north of Philipse Manor). Track 1 has no power rail between south of CP25 (south of Tarrytown) and MP19 (south of Hastings-on-Hudson). |
