Its realistic to me and others that use it..its function is being served in the capacity it was built for..rail rapid transit between Queens,Manhattan and the little island in the East river it crosses under. What part of THIS is beyond YOUR comprehension..? Its was designed as a another East River Crossing with many options,of which several are/have been carried out..including the present route of the IND 6TH AVENUE F LINE..the Future route of the BMT BROADWAY Q LINE...and the LONG ISLAND RAILROAD's new terminal under Grand Central.. Whether the "present routing" of the F or E is not to your liking does matter to me..complain to the MTA about it see if they'll hook you up with Another E SPECIAL or diverted F to Archer. |

Assuming they are compatible, it's easier to take a B car out of a five-car set and insert them on CBTC capable R143 and R160 sets. If they aren't, order B cars for this. There probably aren't enough five-car sets that can spare one of their B cars anyway.More money? Yes, but much less than going to ten-car sets and lengthening the platforms. |

That's why the Brooklyn F is more crowded than the Queens F.While it can get real bad when there are massive delays (most likely originating in Queens), under normal situations the Brooklyn F doesn't get as crowded as the Queens side. You don't hear people at York, East Broadway, Delancey or Second Av. complaining about crowdedness as much as Roosevelt Islanders. Part of it is the difference in mentality but most of it is actual statistics. When Park Slope and Caroll Gardens people asked for a V extension to Church Av., the TA looked at the ridership and saw that there wasn't enough demand for another service. The Brooklyn F only had 16-18tph because the Queens side needed them. Ridership went up for sure, but I can still have some room to breathe when getting on at Second Av. during morning rush. |

It had nothing to do with demand-there was clearly demand for additonal Culver service. The Culver Viaduct project, however, precluded that. |

Queens Blvd portion of the line already has Manhattan service. The R train. The Eastern Division portion of the M only has shuttle service on the weekends, and most commutes on weekend require three trains. Shittle-to J-to some other line. |

I don't believe so. That's why some E trains go to Hillside, as Parsons doesn't even have enough to handle all E service, much less add some of the F's. |

Hey, I agree that the Brooklyn F isn't the worst ride in the world. That said, it seems to me that the choke point on the F isn't at any of the lower manhattan stops, but at Jay, where people get off for downtown bklyn or take the A/C. If you swap the E and F, now Culver will only have 12 tph. |

The thing is, it would be a duplicate service. While it would provide more trains, and some people would skip a few stations with the express, the truth is, all it would be would be duplicate 6th Ave local service, leading to duplicate Queens Blvd service (of which I doubt there are a lot of people riding all the way through to Queens from South Brooklyn. So it's basically two 6th Ave local trains serving the same south brooklyn area.Sending the V (in the form of the M)to Metropolitan actually adds a service to Midtown to an area that hasn't had it, making the V different from the F in Manhattan, as opposed to just a duplicate train going to the same place (even if skipping a few stations). |

I didn't say "the Broadway Brooklyn line" would present much of a problem, I SAID the Myrtle Bway station could cause the ONLY problem on the line. You have the interlocking on one side of the station, in which you could not extend towards. You didn't have that problem at the express stations on the "Culver and West End" lines. |

Kings Highway/Culver, Bay Pky and 62 St West End. The last 2 were extended north away from the interlockings and towers at the S/E of the stations. K Hwy was also extended north away from the tower and AFAIK, the switches N/O K Hwy were extended after the platforms were extended. |
