Lack of communications: Car winds up on LIRR tracks, 40 seconds later someone calls 911. Why doesn't the 911 operator also notify the MTA to slow down or stop trains on that line? Police arrive 4 minutes later, see a train approaching, and then attempt to notify the MTA, but it was too late. Luckily no one was injured when the train hit the vehicle. |
