It sounds as the major bone of contention here is the Bedford Avenue station. Bedford Avenue entrance is full time; Driggs Avenue entrance (last time I looked) was still part-time. Some of the other stops have single entrances as well (Grand, Graham, Montrose) but none are as heavily-used as Bedford is.wayne |

Nah, if anyone should be jealous it would be Curly - since Moe started running on 6 Avenue, things have been a whole lot different on that line. Next step for Moshe would be to elevate him to weekend service, something which could really help along Queens Blvd and on the 53 St portion of the line.wayne |

This is likely impossible, but if they could widen the platform at Lexington/53rd then there would be no excuse for the F running on 63rd. |

It's not like it's a major destination. Besides Hunter College (which is blocks away) and Bloomingdales, there's nothing in the immediate vicinity. |

Not impossible, but an extremely complicated and expensive project.1-push out station outer walls. 2-lay new tracks against new outer walls 3-widen platforms over old tracks. Would cost billion$ that isn't there now and never will be. |

Fix all of the escalators, so to evacuate the station faster, would help.Extend the platforms on the Myrtle Ave, and Broadway El, to ten cars. Now, a full length "M" could add a 20% increase to is carrying capacity. Better yet, stretch them to 660Ft, and remove the structures from the platform along Queens BLVD, and 6Th Ave, and you get a 30% increase. |

You are completely unaware of the fact is that the FTA TOLD the TA to run a full-time service on 63rd Street, or forfeit what was given to them by UMTA to build it. The TA would have been glad to leave the F train where it was and ru nthe V there, but could not. |

That's not really the point. MTA could've run the V through 63rd and rerouted the F when it wasn't running. OR, they could've made the V the full-time 6th ave/QB route and ran it through 63rd. However, running the F through 63 offers distinct advantages. For one, there are some people at local stations between Roosevelt and Forest Hills that will now take the M. Also, anyone bound for 53rd can now take a less crowded train. Basically, putting the F on 63rd and the M/V on 53rd split the two most popular routes up: 6th ave QB express and 53rd. |

There is no real transfer between the F and Lexington Avenue line, no transfer to the G, the F circumvents the East Side business district and stops at useless stations like Roosevelt Island (which is only useful when I want to ride the tram) and 21st/Queensbridge. |

Queensbridge houses is the largest housing project in city. Lots of people live there and have places to go. When you get right down to it there isn't much near Queens Plaza.Roosevelt Island is also a populous residential neighborhood. There is an outside transfer to the Lex. at 59th Street. The transfer from the E to the 6 is not particularly convenient. Up a long escalator. Through a long passageway. If you want the downtown 6 you have to go down and up. The north entrances to the 59th Street station are are at 60th Street, three short blocks away from 63rd. You can also get the express at 59th Street. |

The "transfer" at Lexington/63rd is even longer. From the platform level to the street level alone is 5-10 minutes on the escalators. That's not including the three block walk in the exposed elements. |

I's complicated, I understand. It's just like the (M)/(V) thing from last year. Do I like it? No. But sometimes you just have to go with the flow and deal with it. I've grown indifferent to the service pattern that's present now. I've grown that way towards a lot of things.Things change and over time we have no choice but to adapt to change. Not a great comparison but if those before us didn't adapt to change then a lot of us wouldn't even be having this conversation right now. Just food for thought. |

Despite the inconvenience of the transfer at 53rd, the transfer at 63rd is admittedly much worse: It's outdoors, requires even more escalator riding and three times the walk (the end of the 6 platform is at 52nd, the passageway is about one block long). Also, 21st and Roosevelt are useless to people coming from the rest of Queens. The E and F should be swapped. . .At their east ends. The E should go to 179th and the F to Parsons/Archer. |
