R-32s Moved From Fresh Pond Yard!!! |
|
Posted by ENY Blitz 5107 on Tue Jan 10 18:29:49 2012 Greetings all!!! I recieved word yesterday that the 8 long stored R-32s at Fresh Pond Yard were being prepared for movement to ENY Yard so that the graffitied pair could (Finally!)be cleaned.Unfortunatly the R-32s would not "Charge" properly,so the move was scrubbed yesterday.Today,6 R-42s ran "Light" to Fresh Pond Yard around 11:00am to pick up the graffitied pair of '32s.So,now there are 6 R-32s remaining in Fresh Pond Yard at this time. No,there are no plans to reactivate these cars to my knowledge at this time.I hope someone was lucky to see R-42s on the Myrtle Avenue Line as it has been many a moon since the R-42s ventured this way... |

Whoever thought that train was going to charge up after sitting there for over a year ought to have his head examined, especially it was known there was at least one b/o compressor on it.IMO, the best and safest way to move it is 2 cars at a time with 6 R42's as horses. If needed, it gets flagged to B'way Myrtle. |

Just send a car cleaner there to throw a patch over it, these cars are supposed to be scrapped aren't they? (personally I don't like the scrap idea). |

Graffiti vandals work unsafely, car cleaners work safely. In Jamaica Yard for example, graffiti is removed on a track putsode the barn. The yardmaster will spot the graffiti on the side where the third rail is on the clean side. |

It doesn't have to be a big production/ |

I'm sure there is a reason why the graffiti wasn't removed on site rather than the cars being taken away. All I was doing was suggesting a possible reason as to the thinking by transit.
