Ironic thing is, if 76th Street was ever used in the manner suggested by the Brother's layout, it probably would hold very little interest to railfans, as it would be just another dull IND station. |

Why would it be any different than any other unused station. The controversy is NOT what the station looks like, but whether "something" was built there or not. If it was known, it would be no different than knowing "Court St" was there or City Hall. And it wouldn't be your typical IND station, it would be one of the later IND stations and look like the IND stations east of Browadway Junction. It would look like one of the local stations like Liberty Shephard, Van Sicklen. But of course, that would be if it didn't look like a station shell without tiles, which would be more likely. |

I know what you're talking about...there's no way to get to the station because it's behind the wall, assuming the station is behind the wall. However, anyone who goes onto the tracks and walks through the tunnels, albeit under accounts of trespassing, can make their way to the track leads to the wall via either Euclid Avenue or even Grant Avenue. |

The yard lead behind the grant ave station wall is the way i used to go because they never used it. Remember its trespassing and always the possibility of a train.theres an emergency exit right over the layup spot also. its been 15 years since ive been down there, id love to do it again LOL. |

If 76th Street does have tiles, it would probably follow the same tile sequence as seen at Euclid Avenue express station (i.e. beige wall tiles with a lilac purple band and a medium violet border). The only exception I believe, because it would be a local station, that its color band would be two rows high, instead of three (as applied for an express station).I could probably envision as almost like what the abandoned lower level of the 42nd Street-8th Avenue IND station was eventually done as, with some differences. The large mosaic tablet sign would be most likely in the same format and style as that of the other Pitkin Avenue stations (i.e. with large white lettering fonts). -William A. Padron ["Grant"] |
