Riding the SL-V's |
|
|
Posted by TransitChuckG on Wed Nov 10 16:23:33 2010 I rode 9339 from Market East to Media. Chuchubob was on the train from Temple so we sat in the front as close to the rail fan window as possible. When I boarded it was 17 minutes late , we don't know why.Overall the ride is smooth, good smooth acceleration and deceleration and braking. The seats sit a little too upright for me, it will take getting used to.The audio and visual announcements seem fine to me. We single tracked for a good portion of the way, there was MOW equipment on the outbound track. I think it was from Primos to Media, I need to verify that. We were so late and we wanted to catch an inbound, so we got off at Media and rode 9352 SL-IV's inbound. So I'm happy I rode and had Bob as company, next time I ride I hope the cars run better. Some shots from today. Enjoy. ![]() ![]()

Leaves wouldn't cause a seventeen minute delay from Roberts Yard to Temple U.The only thing I heard was "After the third reset, it worked." |

I don't know whether 802 was opened later; it was a reverse commute run. I neglected to take notice when we deboarded at Media. |

This true, but these are really "buggy".They have been non-revenue testing them for so many months, now they are kind of in service, and still crapping out. |

An anonymous source told me the heat resisters or heaters under the SL-V reacted with the floor glue and started smoking. So I can see a retrofit shield being installed on these cars, |

This should have been discovered two months ago when 702 went to Ottawa for extreme temperature testing, unless the South Philly plant used different glue than the plant in Korea used. |
