In order for the tower to reverse the switch, at least two preceding automatic signals have to be red to prevent an approaching train from potentially striking the home signal, derailing, and/or colliding with another train.In the case of many interlockings, particularly in the IND, the approach signals in the station will clear slowly and allow the train to enter. This is built into the signal relays, and is not indicated by any wayside signs telling the T/O of this. |
