Many of these people are living off welfare, and it irks less observant Israelis who serve in the army and pay the very high taxes that another group of people is gaming the system and doesn't serve in the army. Some of these people don't believe that the State of Israel should exist until the Messiah comes, yet they have no problem taking the handouts from the Israeli government. Others who don't believe the state should exist until the Messianic age do refuse the government handouts they are "entitled" to. |
