Another follow-up to the old schedules thread of several months ago. In the mid-50s the TA contracted with the private Official Timetable Corp. to print late arrival station schedules (I’m not sure if it was for all or selected stations). Like their 1970s counterparts, these were paid for through advertising – some local, some citywide. I find a lot of it more interesting than the schedule itself but that's me.

If you’re interested in this kind of “subwayana” you may want examine the two below closely. The one for Bedford Avenue on the Canarsie Line refers to “Exp. Or Lcl Trains” even though that service was provided only during rush hours (14th St.-Fulton trains going express between Lorimer and Myrtle). In addition the owl headway was 30 minutes not the more common 20.

The 168th Street schedule for the A/AA seems to only show the A as owl headways are 20 minutes. I guess it’s possible, but unlikely, that both the A and AA arrived and departed at the same times.

A couple more to come.
