Well, that kills the "rolling stock must be interchangeable" argument against operating electrics on the Providence line. The GE locomotives will undoubtedly require a change in shop procedures almost equivalent to operating electric locomotives. Bring on the ALP46As, or, since MBTA has a phobia of new-build, the ALP44s.
