Posted by INDependent on Tue Aug 31 19:46:03 2010 Wondering why --Every day I take the 6:05 from Penn Sta to Wantagh. The doors close promptly at 6:05 -- then the train sits in Penn Sta for 3-5 minutes waiting for trains in front of it to clear (or so the announcement says). The train generally arrives at my station at the scheduled time which tells me that this delay is accounted for. Now -- on days where I'm running a minute or two late -- I have the pleasure of seeing the train I just missed sit at the platform for three minutes before it leaves -- and of course I can't get on because the doors are closed and the conductor won't reopen them (as he shouldn't). So -- Why don't they make this train a 6:08 or 6:09 and roll out promptly? This would give the riders an extra 3 or 4 mins to catch the train and would not delay the schedule. |
