This it very true, MNR operations seem much more fine tuned & customer oriented than the LIRR. The LIRR attitude is that they are the best game in town & if you don't like it , well then just tough it out on the LIE or GCP & see how that works out.

Lets not forget, MNR had to rebuild a commuter rail system that was very close to being run into the ground by Conrail attitudes & indifferent brass, where the LIRR was given a ressurection (and blank check) of sorts by Gov Rockefeller to make it the best railroad in the world. I remember in the late 60's they would regulary cancel 20-30 trains a day. NYCRR & NH did'nt recieve nowhere near that attention & money.

As I see it, MNR runs a better overall operation & is better equipt to handle the future traffic increases as (when) the economy turns around.

After all, just as a simple example, there is not an inch of fiberoptic cable on LIRR territory to this day where it's prevalent in the railroad industury worldwide, so Im told..
