Did you know that the last A in the WMATA stands for authority, not agency?

Here another one for you, the A in the MTA Maryland stands for Administration not authority or agency. The only letter that is common is the T for Transit. MTA Maryland is redundant phrase as the M in MTA stands for Maryland. The other MTA in Maryland, (Maryland Transportation Authority) is the agency that maintains and operates the toll facilities in the state.
