There have been proposals to make the 15 into a WMATA route, so this sort of thing can go the other way, too.The 15 would make a rather short WMATA route unless it was consolidated into something else. However, that's what I would think should happen. Routes with incredibly high ridership (the 15 used to be the highest ridership route at one time, and seems to provide more frequent service than the 55 according to the schedule) should get WMATA's attention so that they could be considered as WMATA routes. The municipalities should continue to focus on smaller community routes. At least, that's my opinion, as WMATA has the resources and expertise to handle higher rider loads than any of the other smaller systems. |
