I'mma Queens native myself, and yes I definitely am looking into private schools for my daughters.Wait, you already have kids? Either you had kids at an early age or you're older than you let on. The old district 26 zone was one of the best in Queens, but IIRC, didn't it cover Queens north of the Grand Central Parkway? Mind you, Queens Village and Bellrose are rather nice communities in Queens as they're relatively safe and the bus service is tolerable in certain areas. Being near the Cross Island Parkway also keeps Stamford on my list of crew bases to work, it will add maybe 10 to 12 minutes to my current time to get to Stamford from Parkchester. My dad used to commute across the Throgs Neck for about 12 years, so while traffic can have its bad days, it's certainly not too bad. Theoretically, you can report not just to Stamford, but North White Plains isn't that far, and if Highbridge is a reporting site, it isn't too bad either. My dad used to work in that area, and he'd have 35 minute commutes from Cambria Heights on good days... |
