Hmm, as for numbering...although the R-179s will almost certainly replace the R-32s (and 42s), for awhile at least, those types will be in the fleet together, which means none of the 32s' numbers (3350-3949) can be used. If they skip over the R-110B, they could start at 3010 (or 3011) and end at 3299/3300. The R-44s will probably be gone by the time the 179s arrive, but that would not free up enough numbers (pinned in by the R-68As (up to 5200) and the R-46s (starting at 5478)). Either that, or skip over to the 4000s (which is clear up to 4787). |
