The B&O had trackage rights (and IINM majority ownership) in the Reading and CNJ and wanted the SIR as their gateway to NY. Back when every railroad from points south ended in NJ, it didn't seem as weird. But a trip from Communipaw to Manhattan is much shorter and quicker than from St. George. |
