I re-measured a straight line from the intersection of Ave C and West 8th to the waterline, and I got just over 2500'; my initial measurement was from West 8th and Ave D. The photos further down the thread show a more accurate location for the station, but the distance change throws off the entire calculation I made. Still not impossible, but obviously much steeper. And of course, the downward slope of the tunnel approach can continue past the water's edge, depending on the land and water usage in the area. |
