Excluding cessions prior to the ratification of the Constitution: Virginia ceded Kentucky North Carolina ceded Tennessee New York ceded Vermont Connecticut ceded the Western Reserve (NE Ohio) New York and Connecticut ceded the Erie Triangle (feds sold it to Pennsylvania) Massachusetts ceded Maine Virginia ceded West Virginia The manner of transferring land from one state to another is clearly spelled out in the Constitution and is not in legitimate dispute. |
