R-44s never get towed :)

There are waugh/MCB coupler adapters around so a diesel would use them if necessary. Actually, with every car on the A-Line having an OB/Waugh type coupler, it's not likely that an adapter would be needed. Incidently we rarely tow. Unless there is a strong reason, in NYCT we always push if a train is disabled.
