"The facade was built, as I understand it, to preserve the look of the street when the subway was built, rather than have the street look 'gap-toothed'."Water pumping stations in residential neighborhoods are commonly built to look like homes for this reason-- just for looks, not to "hide" anything. This is nothing new. |
