Posted by ClearAspect on Tue Mar 9 12:14:59 2010, in response to Weekend 7 line G.O. work has been scrapped - - really., posted by Newkirk Plaza David on Tue Mar 9 11:55:34 2010. They did an amazing amount of work for some of the G.O.s they had upwards of 25 work trains, all of them working quite hard, replacing track, replacing ballast, installing rails, chipping away concrete etc. There's still a lot of work left though on the 7, and I mean a lot of work, the track sections north of 45th road are old and need replacement, the queens blvd viaduct trackage is nearly 40 years old and will need replacement, and some track sections between Vernon-Jackson and Times Square need to be chipped out and replaced. But a lot of work has been done in critical areas and most of the tracks along the Roosevelt Avenue portion of the route has been replaced. However once done, then CBTC installation G.O.s begin. So Flushing residents have a long road ahead of them but in turn will get very very reliable service in the near future. |
