Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail deserves some honorable mentions as well. The Metrorail (using Budd 100's, similar to Baltimore MTA) can run at speeds up to 70 MPH between Allapattah and Palmetto, albeit done in ATO, while the "operator" merely sits in the cab reading a newspaper between stations, only to open and close the doors and make announcements in stations. The MDT Metrorail is actually a clean, well run system, and it is a shame that, for now, it consists of only one like. Big time expansion plans are in the works for MDT Metrorail. But folks, c'mon, do remember (especially all you R-44 haters) who holds the speed record for fastest speed of subway/rapid transit equipment....87.75 MPH......the R-44!!!!!!! Keep that in mind, fellas!! :-D |
