In the UK, the term 'Asian' invariably connotes someone whose ancestors came from the South Asian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka). A former student of mine had a story about this. The student was from, China, and had a part-time job as an assistant in a clothes store. A British Asian (i.e. Indian or whatever) customer was very rude to her. Her boss - a white British man - saw this happen and afterwards said 'Bloody Asians!' My student then pointed out to him tha she was Asian too...

The London Underground doesn't call its lines by colours, but the yellow one on the map is the Circle Line. Maybe British Asians should object to the Bakerloo Line (brown on the map) and British people of Afro-Caribbean descent should object to the Northern Line (black on the map) !
