The alarming thing with IC125s is getting on with a bicycle. You have to load your bike on to a special compartment at the front of the westernmost carriage (unless something's gone awry and it's at the other end), secure it to the rack, get out again, leg it 75' along the platform to the next door and hope you've done it quickly enough to get there before they lock the doors. There is a door from the bicycle compartment to the first passenger saloon, but it's marked for emergency use only. It's usually okay doing this at stations where they sit around for a bit, but it gets a bit exciting when it's a tiny station in Wales or Cornwall. |
