I think that's the only choice given the current situation, and I suspect that this may be something that affects all state and municipal employees (at all levels), especially in light of increasing pension and health insurance costs, and in the particular case of NYCTA, high debt servicing costs. Otherwise, I given the alternatives, a pay cut is certainly better than layoffs, and a service that's so unattractive, that even the employees eschew its use isn't ideal either.In some cases it can be but its up to the Unions to work with the bosses neither of us know whats going down so... BTW, I know people who work at NYCTA, and my dad was a decade long civil servant so I aim to avoid the anti-government employee rhetoric. Never mentioned anything about your situation but thanks. |
