Until new stations are built between Old Saybrook and New London, it just doesn't make sense to me why those trains should run an extra 36 miles each (they have to deadhead to and from). There should be stations at Sound View (Old Lyme), East Lyme/Niantic, and Waterford. But the man who owns New London Union Station has been pushing for this probably has been playing hardball with Amtrak about some financial dealings, I would guess. I know when he phoned me, he told me he had ways to exert pressure. |
