Revenue runs probably will not even begin until late in the year at the earliest. There are still lots of testing that has to be done. The clearance testing has already begun, with a pair being hauled up and down with a double-ended engine set, checking overhead clearances and platform (side to side) clearances. They still have more modifications that have to be made, then have to tested and run on their own power both in catenary and third rail territories, tested on the NEC east of New Haven, and more than likely also tested on the Hell Gate Line. Then they have to pass their mileage tests without major breakdowns or failures befreo they are even OK'd for service. It will be quite a while yet before little ol' me gets to pop the doors, greet my passengers, then go about saying "Tickets Please" aboard them. |
