Like many things that psychiatrists and clinical psychologists come up with, this isn't a proper syndrome (like a cold), it is a collection of behaviours that when they exist in a particular combination become noticeable in particular circumstances.

Because of this, the label is misused and over-generalised, so that people who display some of the 'symptoms' suddenly find that they are misdiagnosed as 'mild aspergers' by friends and family (an oxymoron, how can someone be mildly clinically impaired in social or occupational functioning? Not quite enough friends, not promoted fast enough?).
