While we have had some significant problems in getting Amtrak reasonably funded, this is more due to the fact that government in this country is largely unaccountable to the votersReally? Judging by the sentiment when the high speed rail funds were disbursed, I'd argue that there's a sizable portion of Americans who have contempt for rail and public transport, and view its development and use as un-American and a waste of taxpayer dollars. |
